Every registered resident is a neighbortree "webmaster" – you can post public or private articles, photos and comments.  You, the resident and content author decide if your posts are publicly or privately viewable.  You also control your registration information in terms of what information, if any, is made available to your fellow residents.   In addition to a content flagging system for inappropriate content, each neighborhood also has volunteer resident moderators with limited ability to remove content that is in clear violation of neighbortree TOS.

Not only free, but we share.

Most neighborhood websites are controlled by an HOA. Full-featured neighborhood social networking solutions can cost hundreds to thousands per year in hosting, licensing and maintenance fees. Our service is 100% free. We are able to do this through advertisement & sponsorship partnerships with very special local businesses that share our mission of community involvement. We in turn share a percentage of our revenues with each member community by way of neighborhood scholarships, parties and/or improvements.

Some HOA sites are closed systems while others are open to the public. There are pros and cons to each type – neighbortree offers both. If you are selling your house or having a garage sale, you want all web visitors to be able to see your post. If you are announcing a play date or discussing a hot-button HOA topic, you may want to restrict these types of posts to registered users only.
